Abstract

[Also in Division B4] A clamp comprises a frame having spaced parallel members, one or more blocks in retentive sliding engagement with the members and having opposite sides grooved or recessed to engage the members and one or more work clamping screws threaded in the block or blocks. A U-clamp, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), for holding a tube 14 has a frame 1 consisting of strips 7 spaced by spacers 10 and held together by bolts 11 or by welding. Clamping screws 4 having work-engaging ends 13 which may be flat or shaped or hinged, are mounted in blocks 3 having recesses 6 receiving the strips 7. The blocks 3 are locked in their adjusted positions by tightening the bolts 11 or by screws 15 mounted in the blocks 3 and engaging the strips 7. The frame 21, Fig. 6 (not shown), may be rectangular to hold in place a fabrication 24. In a further modification, each of a pair of frames for holding the blades and hub of a fan consists of a disc 29, Fig. 8 (not shown), having radial arms 27a in which slide the blocks 3. In another modification, each sliding block 3 carries a further sliding block holding the screw 4 and movable perpendicularly to the frame strips 7.
