Abstract
1,048,602. Moving coil transducers. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 18, 1964 [Jan. 30, 1964], No. 3925/64. Heading H4J. A moving coil transducer, e.g. an elliptical loud-speaker, has a dust cap 1, Fig. 2, secured to the diaphragm over the end of the moving coil 13, the dust cap being formed of a sheet of material, e.g. aluminium, having a rigidity preferably in excess of that of the diaphragm material, formed with an array of apertures therein. A layer of air pervious dust excluding material, e.g. thin cotton fabric, covers the stiff material. In a loud-speaker with an elliptical cone the dust cap is said to assist in preventing the diaphragm folding across its minor axis.
