Abstract

In a straight-bar machine fabric take up apparatus comprises two separate mechanisms, the first ensuring take up until the fabric is engaged by the second which comprises a rotatable drum having retractable hooks projecting through its surface. The first mechanism 16 Fig 1 (not shown) comprises hooks 19 attached to bands 20 wound on a drum 21. In the second mechanism 24, the hooks 29 are mounted on spindles 50 Fig 4 (not shown) rotatably mounted inside the drum. The spindles are rocked by means of arms 52 fixed thereto, and engaging fixed cams 56, 61 so that the hooks are projected and retracted once during a complete revolution. The fabric is engaged by successively projected rows of hooks and drawn off into a shoot 32.
