Abstract

1,047,931. Lids for pouring vessels. HARFIELD COMPONENTS Ltd. April 23, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 18102/63. Heading A4A. A lid for a pouring vessel e.g. a jug 8 (Fig. 1, not shown) is tiltable to open position by finger pressure on a rearwardly extending lug 10, projections 5 on the handle being engagable in the open ends of grooves 13 in flanges 11 on the lug when the lug is in vertical position and retained therein when the lid is in horizontal, closed position. If the vessel has a spout the lid has an overlying projection. The vessel is preferably of acrylonitrile and the lid of polystyrene, or both are made from a polycarbonate. In modifications, the outer ends of the grooves are closed and the lug is snap-fitted over the projections, or the lid has a thickened portion tending to return it to closed position.
