Abstract
1,046,073. Flexible pipes. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE, DES CABBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. Jan. 21, 1964 [Jan. 22, 1963], No. 2652/64. Heading F2P. An armouring 4 consisting of two layers of wires are helically wound with inverse pitches over a core 1 of rubber or synthetic plastics material, each layer having an inclination of between 55 and 60 degrees in relation to the axis of the pipe and the armouring is covered by a sheath 5. At least two longitudinal tension-resisting wires 6, 7 substantially parallel to the axis of the pipe are secured to the sheath, and the core 1 is provided with two diametrically opposite, longitudinal notches 2, 3. In modifications,(a)the wires 6, 7 are disposed at an angle to the plane of the notches, and (b) there are three longitudinal wires angularly spaced apart by 120 degrees.
