Abstract

1,044,520. Regulating switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 39699/62. Heading H2B. A selector switch suitable for on-load transformer tap changing comprises two contrarotatable movable contacts 23, 26, arranged to be stepped alternately, each from one fixed contact to the next in opposite rotational directions over two arcuate sets of fixed contacts 1, 3 ... 11, and 2, 4... 10, respectively, between limit positions in one of which they respectively engage fixed contacts 1, 2 and in the other of which they respectively engage fixed contacts 11, 10, the arcuate sets each subtending angles of less than 180 degrees on opposite sides of a central axis. The movable contacts 23, 26, are carried by arms 24, 25, which are contra-rotatable by concentric shafts coupled to a suitable driving mechanism (Figs. 2, 4, not shown). The fixed contacts 1-11 are connected to tapping points on a transformer winding, and arcuate collector bars 21, 22, of the switch are connected to contacts of a high speed diverter switch arranged to selectively connect the collector bars to a load terminal (Fig. 3, not shown).
