Abstract

A stern trawler comprises a ramp 1 (Fig. 1, not shown), pivoted at 2 so that when the codend has been hauled on to it, it can be tipped to empty the catch into the hold 5 through the hatchway opened by the ramp section 4. A bulwark-like wall 3 prevents water entering the hold 5 as the ramp 1 is being tipped, and when it has been tipped, the underside of the ramp, together with a section 6, deflect waves outboard.
