Abstract

1,043,261. Thermal regenerators. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. March 19, 1963 [March 21, 1962], No. 10769/63. Heading F4K. A rotary heat regenerator contains a sealing arrangement, which comprises position sensing and actuating means, for maintaining a preferred sealing relationship between the relatively rotatable parts 10 and 18 regardless of relative distortion between the said parts. An annular seal assembly 26 is connected by an arm 27 to a radial arm 22, pivoted at 24 adjacent to the rotor post 11. The sensing means comprises a disc 38, having a series of spaced pins 42 attached thereto, which is placed between limit indicating means 34 and 36 which are attached to the rotor housing. If the sensing means, which rotates with the rotor 10, moves axially relative to 34 and 36, these projections will come into contact with the pins 42, thus introducing a rotation to the disc and thus to the threaded tube 43, to which it is attached. Since the tube passes through internally threaded apertures in the support means 44, any rotation of this tube produces axial movement which is communicated to the pivotal connection 47, and hence to the annular seal 26, thus moving the seal relative to the rotor housing.
