Abstract

1,042,759. Container closures; collapsible tubes. K. MAICHEN. Nov. 29, 1963 [Nov. 29, 1962], No. 47256/63. Headings B8D and B8T. The contents of a collapsible tube are forced out through an outlet opening in the tube and through a slit 9 in a cap 6 of elastic material fitted on the tube neck, a supporting part extending along the inner side of the cap to tightly close the slit 9 when not in use. The slit is covered externally in its closed position by a studded flexible flap 10 or by a rotary outer cap. The supporting part may be formed integrally with the tube neck, or may be part of a spout screwed on to the neck, or may be in the form of an arched member 24 bridging a ring which sits on the container neck. The slit 9 may be arranged obliquely to the axis of the container and the flap 10 may be provided with a brush for spreading the contents (Fig. 4, not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 9 (not shown), the arched members 24<SP>1</SP> and 24<SP>11</SP> replace the single arched member and press together flaps 25 formed on the cap to retard the opening of the slit.
