Abstract
1,042,419. Heat-exchanger tube coils; closed circulation cooling systems. G. A. PFLEIDERER. Nov. 10, 1964 [Nov. 30, 1963], No. 45855/64. Headings F4S and F4U. [Also in Division B5] Pressed boards leaving a heating press are transported in steps along a cooling path and cooled by means of a flowing cooling fluid during the rest periods of their transport. The cooling path is defined by pairs of upper and lower pipe coils 16 movable towards each other to engage between them a board to cool it, and away from each other to allow the board to continue its travel along the cooling path on an associated conveyer. Each upper pipe coil is connected to the corresponding lower pipe coil by means of a flexible pipe joint and each adjacent pair of coils are connected by a further flexible pipe 20. Cooling fluid enters the upper or lower pipe coil at the finish of the path and flows through both coils of the pair via the flexible connection then through the flexible pipe 20 on to the next pair. The cooling liquid progresses in this manner until it reaches the start 21 of the cooling path from which it is fed to a heat exchanger 22, through a pump 23 and on to recirculation through the cooling coils. The pipe portions of adjacent pipe coils are so arranged that a pipe portion in one coil corresponds to a space between pipe portions in an adjacent coil to ensure uniform cooling of the boards.
