Abstract

1,042,446. Sewing machines. H. G. C. FAIRWEATHER (SINGER CO.). June 8, 1965, No. 24073/65. Heading D1G. In a lockstitch sewing machine in which a looptaker bobbin is wound in situ, a loop deflector is provided for physically blocking the loopseizing beak automatically during threat replenishment to prevent loop seizure by said beak. The arrangement, which is a modification of that described in Specification 906,398, comprises a looptaker body 15 rigid with a rotary shaft 18 and journalled on a stationary bobbin case 17, a bobbin 31 journalled on a stud 29 carried by the bobbin case, and a bobbin driver rotatable with body 15 and shiftable to engage bobbin 37 for thread replenishment thereon. One leg of an L-shaped loop deflector 44 is secured to the bobbin driver and the other leg, during thread replenishment, moves adjacent the loop-seizing beak 16.
