Abstract
1,042,396. Conveyers. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. June 3, 1965 [June 5, 1964], No. 23454/64. Heading B8A. A roof support 1 is connected to an anchorage such as a conveyer 5 by a flexible hauling element 17 associated with a pulley 8 mounted on the support or on the anchorage and rotatable by a fluid pressure operated jack 6 to wind up the hauling element and thereby advance the support up to the anchorage. The jack, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises an outer housing 11 in which is journalled a shaft 15 having externally mounted thereon the pulley 8 and internally mounted thereon a sprocket 14 which meshes with a chain 13 connected to a piston 12 movable in a cylinder 9 in response to pressurization of the enclosing housing 11. Subsequent advancement of the conveyer 5 causes unwinding of the hauling element 17 to return the jack to its initial position.
