Abstract
1,041,422. Pipes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. March 13, 1964 [March 28, 1963], No. 10685/64. Heading F2P. [Also in Division B5] In a process for making pipes by centrifugally moulding a flow-able material comprising a polyester, acting as a binding agent, and mineral filler, the material is centrifuged such that it divides out into two layers, the outer layer being filler-rich and having at most 10% by weight of binding agent and the inner layer being filler-free. The inner layer is subsequently removed from the mould and the outer layer cured. Suitable binding agents are solutions of unsaturated polyesters in. e.g. styrene, which have a viscosity between about 20 and about 1000 centipoises and the mineral fillers, such as sand, are chosen according to particle size which may vary from 0À05 to 30 mm. In addition, catalysts may be added, especially peroxides such as benzoyl peroxide, and for cold hardening, accelerators such as dimethyl aniline.
