Abstract
1,040,349. Valves. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Nov. 12, 1964 [Nov. 15, 1963], No. 46216/64. Heading F2V. In a flow control valve of the kind wherein a deformable sleeve is mounted within a rigid housing and deformed by pressure fluid admitted to the space between the housing and the sleeve, two semi-circular spring strips are located within the sleeve at at least one crosssection thereof to provide rapid and positive opening and closing. In the embodiment shown, the sleeve 1 is provided with two spring strips 19, 20 at two cross-sections, and is formed with two longitudinal folds 24, 25 in the diametric plane between the strips. When pressure fluid is admitted to the space between the sleeve and the housing 2 the sleeve collapses and the springs straighten to obturate the flow passage along the said plane. The ends of the sleeve are carried on collars 3, 4 and surround spring cages 14, 15 which deform when the sleeve collapses and prevent its ejection.
