Abstract

In a travelling-wave-shedding loom, sliders which reciprocate in travelling-wave fashion to propel the shuttles also carry reed teeth to beat up the weft. To obviate the necessity for the pitch of the teeth to be an integral fraction of the pitch of the sliders, individual sliders in recurring groups of sliders carry different numbers of teeth, so positioned that the reed as a whole has a uniform pitch. Interchangeable sets of teeth enable the pitch to be changed to suit different fabrics.
