Abstract

1,040,148. Driving mirrors for motor vehicles. H. LEWIS and E. LEWIS. Feb. 23, 1965 [Nov. 27, 1963], No. 46758/63. Heading B7J. A driving mirror for motor vehicles comprises a moulded plastics casing A having a top a curved downwardly at the ends and base a<SP>1</SP> spaced apart by integral walls B extending perpendicular to, and further walls extending obliquely to, the longitudinal axes of the top and bottom, a rectangular anti-dazzle mirror D being secured by adhesive to the front of each further wall to give a substantially continuous view rearwardly when mounted above the windscreen of a vehicle and viewed from the driver's seat, each end mirror being curved at its upper edge. The casing A is secured by brackets C<SP>1</SP>, to the vehicle body above the windscreen (not shown) with the right-hand end of the easing in line with the centre of the steering column. A bracket c<SP>2</SP> having a rubber pad c<SP>3</SP> is mounted on the casing, the pad engaging the vehicle body to act as a vibration damper. The casing A is closed at the rear by a cover C, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), has a lip or bead a<SP>3</SP>. Dimensions are given.
