Abstract

The method involves positioning a vibration damper (4) against a wing of a fixation fork joint (2) by a positioning jig (5), where the vibration damper is formed by a metal plate on which an elastic pad is molded. The vibration damper is temporarily maintained in position by the positioning jig during final assembling of the damper at the fork joint using a fixation screw that secures the fork joint at a front end of a longitudinal arm of a rear axle of a vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a positioning jig for mounting a vibration damper against an external face of a wing of a fork joint fixing a front end of a longitudinal arm of a rear axle with a chassis of a vehicle.
