Abstract

A contact lens, designed to correct and provide a therapeutic effect on myopia in various stages and strabismus, has certain areas of its optical zone tinted in colours which de-stimulate or re-stimulate certain zones of the retina. For example, tinted areas which are blue in the centre and violet round the outside of the optical zone have a syntonic effect on vision, de-stimulating central vision and stimulating peripheral vision. Other effects can be obtained by black dots, holes in the lens or gas bubbles. The lens is preferably hard, but soft lenses can be used for greater comfort.
