Abstract

The telecopier includes a microprocessor (1), a collection of hardware modules for analysis (3), for printing (4) and for communication (5, 6), a central work memory (7) and a program memory (8) supporting a collection of interactive layers of management, application and analysis, printing and communication software. The telecopier is configured so as to be associated with a diskette reading unit (11) containing a floppy disk for storing data from a document. It includes a diskette controller (10) configured so as to be linked to the diskette reading unit (11). The software layers are configured so that the association of the reading unit (11) involves, without modifying the interactions of all the layers, the extension of just the management and application layers respectively to the driving of the diskette, on the one hand, and to the dialogue between an operator and the reading unit, on the other hand. The telecopier makes it possible to send a document entered into a microcomputer.
