Abstract

The spacer bar has a horizontally elongated subdivided hollow rectangular section with flanged extensions of the floor wall. It (3) retains the panes (2) of a double glazed window (1) in the required parallel interspaced relationship. It provides a perforated central cell (12) for a dehydrating agent (11), whilst allowing the panes to flex under pressure differentials. Mastic (8) is used to seat the respective pane edges on the external rebates. The section incorporates vertical partition walls (10) at the transverse quarter points. Centre cell perforations (15) are provided in a necked central section (14) of the top wall (6) which incorporates two continuous longitudinal slits (16). The slits are closed by cantilever flaps (18), partly severing the outer cells to form a flexible seat for the pane edges which can, rotate normal to the major window pane.
