Abstract

The guiding device comprises a bearing (1) fixed permanently in the vertical frame (4) of the lathe and whose inner race may be prevented from rotating by virtue of a blocking device (5) actuated manually or automatically. With this guiding device, it is possible to work a round or shaped bar stock at extremely high and variable speeds necessitating, according to the component to be machined, in a single revolution cycle, rotating or non-rotating guidance with one and the same device.
