Abstract
The aircraft landing aid is in the form of an approach slope indicator unit which emits at least two sectors of steady light (27, 28) above a lower sector of flashing red light (25). The indicator is used to indicate a correct angle of approach to pilots of incoming aircraft. It also provides a readily perceived warning by the flashing red light sector that the aircraft is flying too low. The principal use of the indicator unit is on short runways or landing platforms, when high pilot work-load situations prevail and where the pilot is likely to be more readily aware of a flashing light rather than a steady light.
