Abstract

The lamp consists of a cylindrical quartz envelope enclosing the filament and the halogen. The envelope extends into a ceramic support to which the metal base is attached. The base of the envelope is coated with refractory glue before being introduced to the cylindrical part of the reflector. The ceramic lamp support is of the same external diameter as the internal diameter of the reflector. The two outer surfaces are then coated in the same glue and an aluminium collar is put around the outside. Being metal it must be kept away from the metal base terminal, and so one or two rings of glue are put on the lower edge to prevent any contact. The cylindrical part of the reflector serves as a support for the main body of the reflector, partially enclosing the lamp.
