Abstract

Jerkins or coat contains a safety belt with its back part fitted to the back part of the coat. The belt offers protection to the abdomen, and to the lumbar regions of the spinal column. Its side and front parts are unattached, and reach round the body of the wearer inside the coat. The two ends may be detachably connected on the inner surface of the coat, e.g. by a "Velcro(R.T.M.) insert. The belt may be completely detachable from the coat, and may be fitted into place either by "Velcro" inserts or by slots in the lining material.
