Abstract

A device for releasing a torpedo from a helicopter includes an attachment which ensures that the torpedo is given an initial rotation about its axis during free fall. The attachment is also used where a parachute is mounted on the end of the torpedo. A strip (6) attached to the helicopter one end (9) is secured at the other end (7) and a branch piece (8) is incorporated between. This branch has two zig zig rows of threads, and their common connection points form a line of weakness which is ripped apart when subjected to the weight of the torpedo on release. A further attachment (22) allows the torpedo to be released either without the parachute being opened or with it opened, combined with the action of this tear strip.
