Abstract
The trolleybus has a main drive motor (MT) coupled in parallel to a motor generator (GSMA) so that in normal running both are supplied from the overhead pickup. The moto/generator drives the ancillary equipment such as brake compressor etc. by direct drive. In the event of supply disconnection a standby combustion engine (MD) is coupled to the motor/generator so that its output drives the main drive motor as well as the ancillary equipment. The motor/generator also charges the battery. The system eliminates a separate generator for the standby system.
