Abstract

Compsn. comprises a soln. of (a) >=1 insecticide (I) solid at normal temp.; (b) an inert organic solvent mixt. and (c) a small amt. of a non-volatile film-former (V). The solvent comprises >=80% of a moderately volatile solvent (II) (e.g. ethanol), plus >=1 light solvent (II) (e.g. CH2Cl2) and >=1 heavy solvent (IV) (e.g. MIBK). Pref. compsns. contain 0.1-20% (I); 40-99.85% solvent and 0.05-40% (V) with solvent esp. 80-94.5% (II) of b.pt. 70-100 degrees C; 5-15% (III) of b.pt. 75 degrees C and 0.5-5% (IV) of b.pt. 100-200 degrees C. When applied to a porous surface a continuous liq. film is formed which retains (I) are powdered crystals so assures high residual activity. A specified (I) is bendiocarb, pref. at 0.1-10%; and (IV) is esp. 0.05-20 wt. % of a plasticizer such as ethyl phthalate.
