Abstract
The ditch-clearing machine is designed for towing by and coupling to a tractor. It has an offset rotary cutter, and has an elevator-conveyor which transfers excavated material from the cutter to a lorry. The machine is useful where hedges or cultivation preclude the deposition of excavated material beyond the ditch. The tractor coupling may transmit drive to the cutter and the conveyor through rotating shafts and gearing, and may connect the tractor hydraulics to jacks controlling the steering and cutter-elevation. The cutter may have buckets which cut the required ditch section in a single pass and may be of trapezoidal section. The cutter may be mounted on a jack-operated folding parallelogram frame which maintain the cutter vertical. The conveyor may have an oblique and a transverse run which inter-articulate with the former pinned to the cutter-mounting. Flexible drive shafts may extend from a gear box to each conveyor run.
