Abstract

On prépare des polyamides de poids moléculaire élevé par recondensation thermique de polyamide de faible poids moléculaire qui est composé, pour plus de 50 moles %, d'acide adipique et d'hexaméthylène-diamine. Une fusion homogène de polyamide, ayant une valeur K du coefficient de l'équation de Fikentscher de 20 à 50 et un poids spécifique compris entre 0,9 et 1,5 g/cm**3, est convertie en une mousse contenant de la vapeur d'eau et ayant un poids spécifique moyen compris entre 0,1 et 0,8 g/cm**3; cette mousse est envoyée de façon continue à travers une zone de recondensation où elle est maintenue en moyenne pendant 10 à 150 mn sous une pression comprise entre 1 et 3,5 bars et à une température de 250 à 300"C, la valeur K du polyamide s'élevant alors d'au moins 5 unités. Les polyamides recondensés ainsi préparés peuvent être transformés directement en fils, en fibres, en feuilles minces ou en pièces moulées; mais ils peuvent aussi être condensés de nouveau, par des procédés connus, pour donner des polyamides de poids moléculaire particulièrement élevé.
