Abstract
A metal tube is cold joined to a metal plate structure by positioning a wire structure into contact with the tube such that the wire has portions that extend perpendicular to the length of the tube. The tube and wire structure are compressed together into a bonded relationship and the assembly is then secured to the plate structure. Used for joining heating tubes, pipes, rods and metal cords to a plate or other flat metal surface, e.g. a heat transmitting plate. The formed joint is pliant and the wire provides a constant pressure forcing the parts into intimate contact and a uniform heating operation.
