Abstract

The cardboard tray is for the transport and display of fruit and vegetables, particularly bananas. It is made of a single sheet forming a rectangular base and four sides folded upwards through 90 deg. Lengthwise extensions (9-12) of the longer sides (5,6) fold behind the shorter ones (7,8) to give the latter a double thickness, and the shorter sides also have extensions in the lengthwise direction (22,23) to form parts of a cover, folded inwards through 90 deg. Locking devices are provided, to secure the various sections of the sheet in the folded positions, typically transverse extensions (26,29) of the shorter sides, folded towards through 90 deg. and fitting in oblong openings in the fold lines between the longer sides and the base (38-41).
