Abstract

Nozzle of conventional shape for gripping hot articles, e.g. of glass or similar material, is made of rubber or similar elastic material, with an asbestos coating, on (parts of) the surface which comes into contact with the article. Pref. the asbestos coating is in the form of a rim fitted over the nozzle. The contact surface is pref. protected by a ring of asbestos cloth clamped in the common gripping device. The asbestos coating may be fixed by vulcanisation during mfr. of the nozzle. The nozzle is elastic, and can withstand high temps. and breakage within a short period.
