Abstract

In circulat knitting machines the needle assemblies represent the uniformly spaced elements and their absence or failure causes a sensor close to their peripheral track to generate control signals for the main machine control system. The effective capture width of the sensor is larger than the space between adjacent elements and esp. approx equal to the pitch (gap plus are width of needle assembly proper).
