Abstract

Double-faced corrugated paperboard is produced by coating the exposed flute tips of a corrugated medium faced with a single liner with a gel point depressant, and subsequently applying an adhesive layer over the coating using a roller with the layer of adhesive on the roller bing thicker than the coating of gel point depressant to cause splitting of the adhesive layer on the roller into a lyer on the flute tips and layer on the roller, isolating the gel point depressant from the adhesive roller. An additional board layer is applied to the coated flute tips prior to the gel coat depressant causing gelatinisation of the outer exposed surface of the adhesive.
