Abstract

A collapsible, high-capacity garaging facility entirely made of steel consists of columns and beams with a lift-well (1) in the centre. At the sides of the lift-well are cells (3, 4) and reception areas (5, 6). The car is driven onto a platform in the reception area and the engine switched off. The platform is drawn onto the lift by means of an electro-magnet controlled by a worm screw which is in turn controlled by an electric motor and the lift rises until an empty cell is reached. The platform is then pushed along the rails inside the cell. The entrance to both the reception areas and the lift is protected by a safety screen. The garage is cheap to manufacture, takes up little space and gives greatly increased protection against theft and vandalism.
