Abstract

A strip is rolled around a core which protrudes into an external circular crown. The core is coated with a quick drying adhesive before winding of the strip, ensuring that the first turn of the strip around the core adheres very firmly to it. The strip is coated, on the side facing the core, with a slow drying glue containing molasses. The outside of the reel is fixed to the inner surface of an inner telescopic tube section, the core crown being fitted to the outer telescopic tube section. Extension of the tube extends the strip into a long cone, open at both ends. Insects enter this cone attracted by the glue by which they are caught and held fast.
