Abstract

The equipment allows simultaneously reading for diagnostic purposes of the principal characteristics of arterial pulses, i.e. rhythm, rate, amplitude, strength and consistency under an adjustable pressure applicable to the artery, being particularly for radial arteries. Adjustment of the pressure applied to the artery by a pneumatic mechanism is combined with recording the various arterial pulse characteristics, the recording being effected by an optical fibre unit. The signals received from a light source can be transformed into electrical ones, depicted either on graduated dials or continuously unrolled graph paper by means of inking pens.
