Abstract

Shoe soles are injection-or extrusion moulded using two different mould cores successively for each cavity to produce soles with two regions which differ e.g. in density and other characteristics. Method is used to produce soles which combine light weight with good strength and wear characteristics and external appearance, esp. from PVC. Allows sole to be moulded from two different materials, or from one material at two different densities, i.e. foamed for the core and dense for the wear/visible surfaces.
