Abstract
The rotor is designed for motors where the windings are approximately rectilinear or low pitch helices wound into open slots normally parallel with the motor axis. The motor is particularly suitable for machine wound small fractional horsepower motors used for fan heaters and vehicle ventilators. The design is intended to ease some of the winding problems associated with the large number of turns. Each winding slot wall has an associated finger or extension, directed outward from the winding wall at an angle of between twenty and fifity degrees, serving as a guide for the winding wire. The core lamination discs are shaped at the rotor ends to conform with the wire guides.
