Abstract

In heat exchangers where contact between the two exchange fluids could result in a violent reaction, e.g. liquid Na and water in the case of a steam generator of a fast-neutron nuclear reactor, a secure, spacing support is provided for each tube in the exchanger tube bundle, while stress-relieving deflections when sudden temp. changes are encountered are permitted. The tube-spacing support frame is composed of two sets of parallel plates, slotted into each other at an angle to form a honeycomb in which each tube is spaced from its neighbour by a resilient box aperture made up off-settings in the plates.
