Abstract

Cpds of formula : and their salts with acids and bases (where R1,R2,R3,R4 and R5 = H, halogen, NO2, NH2, trihalomethyl, alkyl, alkoxy). They have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-oedema activity and are used at up to 200 mg four times daily in clinical practice. The oral LD50 in mice is 53000 mg/kg. The analgesic activity is equivalent to that of Di-Antaloic. The anti-oedema activity in mice is less than that of niflumic acid but it is much less toxic. Prepd. by treatment of 2-anilino-3-cyanopyridines with hydrazoic acid.
