Abstract

The waste liquor is (1) treated anaerobically with liquefying bacteria to convert polymer cpd. into a lower molecular cpd. and an organic component into a volatile organic acid, resp.; (2) the liquor then anaerobically treated with a gasifying bacteria to convert the organic acid into CH4 and CO2; (3) undigested residue is removed from the treated liquor; (4) the liquor obtd. is subjected to solid-liquid separation to give gasifying bacteria; (5) a portion of the gasifying bacteria obtained is recycled to the gasifying step; (6) multiplying the activity of the remaining portion of the gasifying bacteria ; and (7) supplying the gasifying bacteria obtained in (6) to (1).
