Abstract

The catalyst, containing at least one Group VI and VIII metal or metal compound, is regenerated by (1) burning the carbon deposits using an oxygen containing gas and (2) washing the resulting catalyst with oxalic acid soln., preferably aqueous solution. Suitable catalyst metals aree molybdenum, tungsten, cobalt, iron, platinum, palladium or iridium.
