Abstract

The invention relates to a process and an oven for bending glass sheets. The glass sheets are heated to bending temperature by transporting them, supported by a bending form 11, from one heating section to another. In the heating section 4, the glass sheet is heated such that the desired bending takes place partially or entirely under the influence of gravity. During the heating and bending in the preheating section 2, an effect is exerted on the temperature distribution in the glass sheet by forcing air in the vicinity of the glass sheet into a flowing movement. By using the forced flow to render the bending of the middle region more effective in relation to the bending of the edge regions, the glass sheet is caused to be bent from its middle region into a continuous curve. <IMAGE>
