Abstract

The invention concerns a procedure and a suitable laser indicator for determining a point in a target area. The beam cones 8,9 generated by beam sources 1,2 of two laser indicators are directed towards point P, and the point's position is determined on the basis of the positional and directional data of the beam sources. According to the invention, the beam sources are arranged in the target area at a distance s apart. The target area is defined by locating in the said area a number of calibration points Pc1,Pc2,Pc3,Pc4,Pc5 and Pc6. The cones from the beam sources are directed towards each calibration point, and the beam cone directional angles then logged for each calibration point section. By using the directional angle and calibration point parameters, the three-dimensional target area can be defined. The directional angles of the beam cones to a required point P are calculated, so that, using the calibration in the defined target area, the three-dimensional coordinates of the said point will be known. The cones from the beam sources are directed towards the required point with the help of the calculated directional angles. <IMAGE>
