Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a tensile load-bearing prosthesis 10, said prosthesis having a plurality of longitudinally adjacent parallel nonadhering strands, which have been attached at least to one eyelet for initially attaching the prosthesis to tensile force-applying tissue. According to the invention a plurality of pin means 42, 44 are arranged and spaced on the same plain to define an elongated area in accordance with the desired size of the prosthesis 10, a plurality of elongated loops are formed around pairs of pin means from a continuous filament of the selected strand material until a desired number of parallel strands are obtained; and the loop ends are gathered at at least one end of the elongated area to form an eyelet and the gathered loop ends are secured against ungathering. <IMAGE>
