Abstract

A horizontal converter includes a cylindrical housing 1 having an orifice 2 for supplying material, drawing off liquid products and discharging process gases, which orifice is located on the cylindrical wall of the converter 1 symmetrically in relation to the vertical plane of symmetry of the converter. The converter additionally includes tuières 3. The tuières 3 are arranged in the cylindrical wall of the converter housing in a row along the generatrix of the housing at distances from the orifice 2. The tuières incline to the left and right from the vertical plane of symmetry of the converter. The angle α between the plane of symmetry and a vertical plane through the axis 4 of a tuière 3 is 10 degree -25 degree. <IMAGE>
