Abstract

A method for packing goods, especially foodstuffs, in which the goods are placed in a first container, such as a plastic bag or a tray with deformable lid, the container being closed with the exception of an opening that is formed by an open valve. The container is then placed in a second container, which has rigid walls. A partial vacuum is then created in both containers, following which the inner container is closed completely, for example by closing the valve, at the same time preventing undesirable substances getting in. In a preferred embodiment inert or preservative gas is introduced into the first container before it is closed. <IMAGE>
