Abstract

The procedure for binding a layer 26 of a permeable material onto a carrier 20 of interwoven threads is characterized in that, during the manufacture of the carrier 20, one of its sides 21 is provided with special threads which have a core and a thermoplastic outer part whose melting temperature is lower than that of the core and of the other threads, and in that this side 21 is heated until the outer side of the special threads melts, after which the layer 26 is applied on the said side. In this way the mechanical and sealing properties of the carrier and the layer are retained. The procedure is used for producing paper-making felts and felt materials. <IMAGE>
