Abstract

Menetelmä ja laite vedyn ja muiden mikrobien avulla muodostettavien kaasumaisten tai nestemäisten aineiden (esimerkiksi 2,3-butaanidiolin) tuottamiseksi olosuhteissa, joissa mikrobien normaali aineenvaihdunta (katabolia ja anabolia) on rajoitettu esimerkiksi lämpötilan tai pH:n avulla. Tällöin hiiltä ei vapaudu kaasumaiseen muotoon yhtä voimakkaasti kuin tavallisessa mikrobireaktiossa. Orgaaniseen jätteeseen tai muuhun biomassaan johdetun kantajakaasun avulla saadaan vetyä vapautumaan kaasumaiseen olomuotoon mikrobien entsyymien ja sähköisten ilmiöiden avulla samalla, kun uutta vetyä sitoutuu biomassaan vedestä. Poistokaasuja tai polttolaitoksen palamiskaasuja voidaan johtaa takaisin bioprosessiin joissakin prosessivaihtoehdoissa, jolloin hiilen kokonaisemissiota saadaan alenemaan myös tällä tavoin. Tuotantolaitos suunnitellaan siten, että se voidaan sijoittaa turvallisesti vaikkapa asutuksen keskelle.
